The Story So Far...

Greetings from Toronto,

Sorry I am only getting a chance to write my blog post now but as you can imagine, I have been very busy. I only bought a laptop yesterday so its all systems go from now on. So... As you can see I have arrived safe and sound in Toronto and if I could describe in one word what I think so far it would be... AMAZING!

We arrived on Monday after a very doable six and a half hour flight. We flew with Aer Lingus and I could not sing their praises enough. One flight attendant started talking to us and we told her that we were moving over to Canada to live, a few minutes later she arrived back to our seats with two bottles of Prosecco to celebrate our big move.

After landing, going through security and getting our visas sorted, we got a taxi into Toronto to meet our friends who we are staying with. They met us outside their apartment block and brought us up to their apartment on the 15th floor, I am really going to have to get use to heights in this place because all the buildings are huge. Anyway after settling in a bit, some more friends called over to see us and we went downstairs to a communal area and had a BBQ and a few drinks. Surrounded by high-rise buildings in lovely warm weather, with friends around us was a great way to start our adventure.

The rest of of week was spent eating some amazing food, shopping for bits and pieces, playing basketball, watching softball and getting lost in this fascinating city. So far I am absolutely loving it! The people are so friendly and helpful, the weather is in the high twenties everyday and they have some cool shops for example Bulk Barn you can buy every type of food imaginable in there from spices to sweets, to peanut butter and soups, all you do is put what you want in bags or containers and they weigh it. So simple yet so great!

Next week will be spent viewing apartments and getting to know the city even more but for now its so far so good. I will leave you with the story so far...

Have a nice weekend:-)

One week to go...

Well would you look at that... ONE more week! That means this is the last blog post I'll write in Ireland for awhile. Weird. This time next week I will be coming to you from a sunny and apparently very humid Toronto. I am not sure yet will I get a chance to blog the Monday I arrive but not too worry I will surely have time to put up a few photos on Facebook.

So as I've had a busy few weeks getting organised for my big move, last week and the weekend was no different.Busy, busy, busy. I had to do lots of boring jobs like bank stuff and insurance etc but I also got to do exciting things like pack, make cheesecakes and get ready for a party my Mum threw for me on Saturday.

Even though the weather was shocking this weekend we still went ahead and had a party in my house on Saturday, my Mum invited her brothers and sisters and close family friends up to the house, it was meant to be in the garden, we had a marquee set up and all. I had pictured that people would be out in the garden enjoying the sun and floating around like fairies(Jokes). Instead it was lashing rain and no one got to float anywhere, well maybe if they brought an inflatable dingy they would of floated on the puddles in the garden.

Weirdness aside, it was a great night! There was so much food and desserts and it finished up with a great sing song until 4 am. I felt so lucky to have my family around me wishing me luck, saying really kind words and giving me such generous gifts. I opened my cards on Sunday and one of my Mums friend had given me a lottery ticket for that night, when I checked the numbers I won €76, I was ecstatic!

So after my busy weekend, me and my Mum booked ourselves into Fota Island Spa for whats called Afternoon Indulgence, you get a treatment, the use of the facilities and afternoon tea and its very reasonable. It was so relaxing and a lovely way to spend quality time with my Mum before I go.

This week is going to be mad! Lots to do, lots of people to meet before I go, going away party Friday and heading to Dublin Sunday night to fly out from there on Monday. I'm not going to lie, I am all over the place about moving. One minute I get really excited especially when I look at pictures or get snapchats from friends that are over there but the next minute I'm an emotional wreck! I have asked cousins. friends and anyone I know who has been away and most of them have said  "its not easy saying goodbye and you will be home sick but it the best thing you'll ever do".

So here it goes guys, 7 more sleeps until, " The best thing I'll ever do". Life is about taking risks, stepping out of your comfort zone and capturing it all on your new GoPro and posting it on Facebook to make your friends jealous! (Jokes..well, kinda)

Have a great week lovelies :-)

My week in pictures...

Evening y'all,

I had a busy, fun filled week last week organising my work team building day with one of my colleagues, building a BBQ from scratch, horse riding for the first time, drinking, going to a wedding, drinking some more, catching up with some friends over food and drink ( I don't have a problem I swear) and I finished the week off by having some family time over a BBQ. So here is my week in pictures.. Hope you enjoy!

The last picture is my favourite, Nancy is clearly enjoying my barbecued burgers.

Have a nice week everyone. 2 weeks and counting til the big move..eek!
