Ski Trip

Hi everyone,

It's a bank holiday and what's called Family Day here and I am spending it both recovering from yesterday's ski trip and an annoying cough/cold that I've had since Friday:-(

I thought I would fill you in on my ski trip yesterday and for anyone who might be coming to Toronto in the coming weeks and wants to go skiing for a day I have the prefect solution and couldn't recommend it more. Although we would of loved to stay the whole weekend, this option was a more affordable choice and still great fun.

Myself and 10 friends headed off yesterday morning to Blue Mountain with a company called Dufferin Club. We booked online and initially paid $30 and paid the remainder $100 in cash when on the bus. This is what was included:

Ski lift pass: $50
Bus: $35 (we got $5 off)
Equipment rental: skis/snowboard+boots: $25
Jacket: $10
Helmet: $5
Googles: $5
Gloves: $5

I didn't need to rent ski pants as I had ones already but you can rent them for $10 or rent both a jacket and pants for $15. It was such a great deal. We had to arrive at Dufferin Club at 7.30 am and it was about a 15-20 min taxi from where we live. There we tried on all our equipment which was very well organised. The only thing was trying on ski boots in -21 was not fun. I thought I had frost bite afterwards haha.

The bus ride took about 2 and a bit hours which included a stop for some tea and coffee which was much needed! It was a big coach equipped with a toilet and while on the bus they showed ski and snowboarding tutorials on the TV. I thought that was a great idea for people who have never been before.

I have been skiing 3 times before but that was about 12 years ago and I'm not very good but it did come back to me once I started. I was very proud of myself as I feel as I've gotten older I've become more fearful but I just went with it and it wasn't as nerve racking as I thought. The chair lifts scare the crap out of me though because everyone panics getting on and off but I actually really enjoyed the views going up.

I brought my GoPro with me and although I'm not the worlds best skier I am excited to share the footage with you after I edit it. Overall the day was great fun, we enjoyed some après ski too in the town before heading back to the bus. We had full intentions of heading out for a few drinks in Toronto that night but 20 mins into the ride home we were all asleep and wrecked from the whole day.

I could not recommend Dufferin Club more as it was all organised for you and it was great affordable way to get a ski trip in for the winter. If I wasn't saving for Vegas I would be going again. My body hurts all over today but it was well worth it. See below for the pictures and watch out during the coming weeks for a video of the trip.
