Toronto Ribfest

Happy Friday!

Hope you all had a good week and looking forward to the weekend. I have decided to do a new feature on my blog as I have been kinda neglecting it lately and I really enjoying doing it. Since moving to Toronto I have found a new appreciation for food. Everywhere you go in this city there is amazing restaurants, takeaways, markets etc so I thought I would share them with you and do what I am calling #FoodieFriday. I will feature either food events I have went to, restaurants I love and maybe even recipes from food I cook myself(or Parker cooks I should say as he does most of it).

So to start it off why not fill you guys in on my trip to Ribfest on Canada Day weekend. Myself, Parker and two of our friends headed there on Canada Day as we had no work. The weather forecast was not suppose to be great for that day with thunder storms due. Luckily, while on the bus to the event the days only downpour occurred and the rest of the day was dry for us.

I was super excited about this. I love food festivals and food in general so I couldn't wait. It was $2 to get in which was great. There was lots of vendors, mainly bbq vendors obviously but there was also people selling the very popular blooming onion, which had one of the biggest line ups.

There was so many stalls to choose from. They all displayed the awards they had won in previous events and it was almost impossible to know which one would be the nicest. We picked a place that had a long queue as we felt people might be more experienced at this whole Ribfest thing than we would be.The first stall we went to myself and Parker shared half a rack of ribs just to get a taste of what we were in for.

After that we decided to be big kids and go to the fun fair. It was so much fun. As I have gotten older however I am the biggest scaredy cat and was made go on a ride, just after watching a woman get sick from another ride may I add. I won't say I thoroughly enjoyed the upside down spinning wall ride thing that I screamed for the duration of, but I was proud I did it.

Overall, it was a great day! After the fun fair we went back to get more food and of course I had to try this.....ONE OF EVERYTHING! (Ribs, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, beans and coleslaw). My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

This website shows other Ribfests in Ontario for anyone visiting that may be interested.

Have a great weekend!
Talk soon xx
